2cm Flak/Gun empty cartridges
Kit # TT073 Preview by - Rob Haelterman

This set contains 65 empty shells (the picture above shows only a fraction), flawlessly cast in black resin by JK Models for Tracks and Troops. They are the tiniest shells that I have seen so far and will allow to give some dynamism to a diorama containing one of the following guns (source Wikipedia), some of which were omnipresent during WW2:

  • Swiss Solothurn S-18/1000 or S-18/1100 anti-tank rifle
  • German FlaK 30, FlaK 38, KwK 30, KwK 38 or MG C/30L
  • Italian: Cannone-Mitragliera da 20/65 modello 35 (Breda) or Cannone-Mitragliera da 20/77 (Scotti)
  • Finnish L-39 anti-tank rifle or Lahti L-40 anti-aircraft gun
  • Polish Nkm wz.38 FK

Representing the 20×138mmB cartridge, my measurements give a diameter of 0.39mm (28 scale mm) and a length of 2.36mm (170 scale mm). Given the extreme dimensions we are working with here, the aberration is tolerable. It also means that it would be a good choice to represent empty shells for the MK103 aircraft cannon, which at the end of the war was also used (or at least projected to be used) as a Flak gun and was installed in the Kügelblitz.

As this set represents empty shells, it might be nice if TnT would release a variant of this set containing complete cartridges (i.e. with the actual round fitted).

Note that this set is now contained in the JK Resin 20mm ammo set and will gradually disappear from the T&T catalogue.

Sample kindly provided by Tracks and Troops as a bonus with an order.
