Ostketten II (1944) für Panzer IV & StuG IV
Kit # MT72055 Preview by Rob Haelterman - heman_148(at)hotmail(dot)com

Before we start this preview, I would like to point out that according to my references there was only one type of Ostkette. I guess that Modell Trans uses "Ostkette II" to distinguish from the earlier Winterketten (see MT72025 and 72026 labeled as Ostkette); both are regularly mixed up in discussions. This set thus represents the wider tracks introduced in 1944. I guess that it will work for a Panzer III as well, for which Modell Trans does not yet have a set. As far as I know late model Panzer IIIs and IVs both used the Kgs.61/400/120 track, so the reason why Modell Trans released two different sets of Winterketten is beyond me.

In this set you get 8 lengths of resin tracks, 4 for each side, as these tracks are handed. Unfortunately 3 of mine were broken. Assembly will tell if I have enough length to be able to go without the broken track links.
The way the tracks are layed out means that you wil have to either cut separate links for around the idler and drive sprocket or carefully heat and bend them around these parts. That might not be so easy.

The set represents exactly the same piece of equipment as the 8wheels-good offering. In my humble opinion the Modell Trans has slightly better detail, but more blemishes (pin-holes, broken parts).
