Quad Gun Tractor

Manufacturer: ESCI Kit #8042, Revell Kit #H2342, Esci/Ertl Kit #8321

This kit really takes me back in time. I recall building this model as a kid, and having it displayed in the local hobby shop. Ah, those were the days ...

I have also heard this model called the Morris Tractor, but I've been informed by Arnout that it is actually a Canadian-built Ford (CMP type) Field Artillery Tractor.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, it seems that for the older ESCI and Hasegawa kits, their British vehicle kits tend to be much better than the others. I'm not sure why that is, but I certainly do appreciate this kit. The detail and engineering were well ahead of their time, and the quality of the molding is really quite good, with very few sink marks, and no flash. These scans speak for themselves. My only suggestion would have been to include clear plastic for the numerous windows, but considering the quality of clear plastic back in those days, they'd likely not be useable anyway. A friend of mine suggested a great tip for replicating glass in this scale: use the clear plastic from a 2 liter bottle of Coke. The plastic is very thin, clear, and rigid. I'll be giving it a shot when I build this model. Note the detailed undercarriage, interior, and driver figure (in shorts).

The decals are practically useless because of the poor registration in the printing process.

As for scale, I have no book references for this vehicle, but based on the dimensions printed in the instruction sheet, it appears to be dead-on to 1/72nd.
