Kit # 72034

Construction Review by Rob Haelterman - heman_148(at)hotmail(dot)com

For a preview and parts overview of this kit, see here.

The Cromwell Combat Ready range is aimed at the modeler with little time to assemble kits but with no willingness to sacrifice too much on detail either. With 14 very well detailed and (apart from three pinholes) blemish-free parts this is as good as it gets given those constraints. After clean up of the parts, which is minimal, the speed of assembly is only limited by the curing time of the glue that is used, which in my case resulted in a total assembly time of 28 minutes 25 seconds. Note that no assembly instructions are given, but I am hard pressed to imagine any other way to fit the parts together.

I left the resin blocks below the tracks in place as they aided me in fixing the model to its base at a later stage. Towing eyes were drilled out using micro-drills.

Painting was done with Vallejo acrylics (after a grey automotive primer). My aim was to stay close to the colors used by the German forces during WW2 (in this case dark grey, reddish brown and green) while trying to mimic a post-war NATO scheme. Decals came from the spares box.

I added some figures from AB Figures, and finally decided to lighten up the paintwork.
