I call this one LAH 1942 , it was going to be the battle of Kursk but I realized the tanks are not right for the summer of 1943.

I couldn't find any pictures of grey Panzers at Kursk or any Pz III's or IV's without Schurzen.
So I back dated the diorama a year which according to my research puts the LAH Division around Kharkov in the spring and in France for the summer.
Next time I'll do my research before I start building!

Anyway on to the models:

  • Pz kpfw III J by Dragon
  • Pz kpfw IV F2 by Dragon
  • SS LAH infantry by Pegasus
  • Commander figures are ESCI and Orion
  • The "grass" is a mixture of Woodland Scenics and Noch products.

I've noticed that enamel paint reacts with the soft plastic and leaves the Pegasus figures with a slightly shiny finish, undercoating them with acrylic paint solves the problem.

I never liked prone figures until I did this diorama, they are so easy to paint because half the figure is hidden by the terrain!
