Soviet 76.2mm F-32 Gun Barrel
Review by Doug Chaltry - 12 July 2004 Kit # 72 L-06

There seems to be some confusion between my T-34 source material, and this piece. The title on the card header for this gun says that it is an F-32 L/41.2. The L/ designation is how Germans express the length of a gun, and I believe that it is in calibres, correct? But according to Osprey's New Vanguard book on the KV-1 (by Zaloga), the F-32 had a length of 39 calibres. Three different guns were used on the T-34 and/or KV-1: the L-11, the F-32 and the F-34. The F-34 had a length of 42 calibres. So right there, the title of this gun contradicts my reference. Plus, this piece is significantly shorter than the F-34 by Micro-Realistixx, which I previously measured as being correct.

So . . . perhaps this gun truly does represent an F-32, and the length measurement on the cover is wrong (or perhaps I am wrong in that the L/41 refers to calibres?). But this begs the question, how useful is it for T-34s? Unless I am mistaken, few, if any, T-34s were actually produced with the F-32. Maybe someone can correct me on this.

There were many KV-1s armed with the F-32, however, and that is how I intend to use this gun.

Thank you very much to Michael Hatch for the providing the review item.
