For the most part, these figures look pretty comical. The
PIAT gunner is alright, and there is a pair of figures, one wounded,
the other helping him walk, which is also fairly well done. Most of
the others are poor. The detail is very good, but there is no variety
to the figures' personal equipment, and the poses are vary flat, and
unoriginal. |

Fourteen poses, many of which are very good. The detail
is very good, but there's not much variety in personal equipment. Most
of the men are armed with rifles and MP-40's, with a flamethrower, prone
MG-34 gunner, MG-42 gunner with tripod, and a kneeling trooper firing
a panzerschreck. This is a very good set. |

Fifteen poses, some of which are fairly good. Could be
used as Marines or Army. Detail is mediocre, and the poses are unoriginal.
Not a very inspiring set, but not as poor as some others in this list. |

Thirteen poses, plus two horses. One of the figures looks
like a Cossack leading the horse. The radio operator is a woman, there
is a prone rifleman, light machinegunner and Maxim machinegunner. The
detail on these troops is very good, some of ESCI's best, and much more
crisp than the Revell set. The poses are not as original as Revell's,
but many are very good. Makes a good compliment to the Revell set. |

of the troops are overly large. One of the guys looks like he's doing
a wierd dance, but he might look fairly good riding in or on a vehicle.
A couple of the figures will be a good compliment to the Revell Afrika
Korps set, but not many. |

There are some very good poses in this set, and the detail
is pretty decent. Although the poses are flat, they are fairly unique.
This set would be a good compliment to the Revell 8th Army set. The
Thompson submachineguns have somehow been miniaturized, and are very
underscale. The riflemen are very good, and the officer is much better
than the one in the Revell set. |

Good detail and equipment, but very poor poses. The riflemen
firing rifles and carbines have obviously never learned about the concept
of recoil. I've not seen the US Paratroops from Revell, but their poses
must be better than these, because most of these are truly
horrible. Out of the entire set, I would use five, maybe six of the
poses. |

These figures are better detailed than the Revell Red Devils,
and their poses are pretty good. The riflemen seem a little more "relaxed,"
but I like the crouching poses better than kneeling. The typical PIAT
gunner is included, as well as a couple of Bren gunners. This set will
make an excellent compliment to the Revell figures, as well as the ESCI
set of hard plastic figures. |

Italian Alpine Troops - WW II |
EXCELLENT KIT. HIGHLY
DETAILED UNIFORMS AND EQUIPMENT. MULES INCLUDED. FEATHERED CAPS AND
HELMETS. THEY COULD BE USED TO REPRESENT THE ITALIAN 8TH ARMY (REARGUARD
OF STALINGRAD). THE FIGURES ARE A LITTLE BIT CHUNKY, BUT WON'T AFFECT
THE FINAL ASPECT OF IT. MANY POSES RESEMBLE THE BIG RED ONE. - R. Haddad |

Battlefield Accessories |
Two or three barrels
and boxes are poorly cast. The set also includes sand-bags (pretty flat-looking)
and "tooth-picks" or smaller sized parts for barricades, a
small improvised bridge or a watch-tower. They fit together by
the pin-and-hole system and sometimes they actually do fit together. I
recommend it for ESCI collectors and wargamers with lots of nerves and
ancient to 19th century battlegear. As for the others.....don't bother!

US Elite Troops - Vietnam War |
Fifty figures. There are six each of five poses, three
of each of another five poses, and a single figure each of a final five
poses. These look like "typical" US grunts in Vietnam, not
Special Forces, as the name of the set would suggest. There is a mix
of helmets, bush hats, berets, and bare heads with headbands. Uniforms
are typicl of tropical settings, i.e., bare chested, sleeves rolled
up, or fully clothed. Weapons include M-16's, M-60's, AR-15, shotgun,
M203 grenade launcher, and M-709 (?) grenade launcher. Pretty much all
the poses are for combat, with the exception of a wounded soldier slung
over the shoulder of another trooper, and a guy talking on the radio
(on his back). While the detail is acceptable, it's not as fine as on
the Modern Infantry set. |

Viet Cong - Vietnam War |
The figure breakdown of this set is the same as #228. Very
little variety of personal gear and uniforms. Detail is not very crisp.
Weapons are a mix of AK-47 varieties and RPG's. All but a single pose
are for combat settings. The most original pose is a guy bending over
and dragging a wounded comrade (looks like under fire). Not a horrible
set, but could be more original and better molded. |

US Infantry - Modern |
These are some of ESCI's best figures, with excellent detail,
but the poses are not quite as good as the corresponding set by by Revell.
There are fifteen poses, most armed with M-16's. There is a kneeling
Dragon gunner, and two figures with M-60's, one standing and one kneeling.
Five figures are unique, and represent a command group. The figures
firing their rifles seem to only be taking aim over their sights, as
opposed to actually leaning into a firing weapon. |

Excellent figures, representing four countries. There are
sixteen poses, four of each, all with a variety of modern weapons, with
which I am not familiar (except FN, Scorpion and MG-3). The poses are
very good, and can be adapted to fit a variety of circumstances, both
in action, and not. Great overall detail. |

Another excellent set, representing several countries in
the former Warsaw pact. Very good poses, with a large variety of weapons.
One figure is in a gas mask. The detail is not quite as crisp as in
the other modern figure sets, but is still pretty good. |

NATO Pilots and Ground Crew - Modern |
It's a pretty good
set with a nice level of detail. The pilots are in 2x7 poses, with
different faces (moustaches), mostly standing and chatting away, with
or without a helmet and one is squatting with a bottle. Some are
actually hely-pilots. The ground crew is done in 3x5 poses (technicians
"at work" wearing trousers with or w/o T-shirts and a baseball
cap, with a tool or a tool-bag) and in 2x5 poses mostly in uniforms
with "anti-noise" headsets. The most interesting is the
tech-crew in Anti-radiation suits (3x3 or 4 poses) with gas-masks -
not seen anywhere else. All in all, it's one of ESCI's better sets,

(I forget its designation). Detail is fairly good, but the poses are
a little flat. Some of the figures seem very bulky. One is kneeling,
firing a panzerfaust. Five poses are unique; a bunch of guys standing
around, chatting. All in all, not quite as nice as the Revell set, but
pretty good, nonetheless. |
